Body contouring surgery is made up from a number of surgical procedures that remove excess and sagging skin and fat to improve body shape. They are often used to correct undesirable body shape after weight loss, either following bariatric surgery or weight loss programs. Major weight loss patients present for body contouring procedures as their skin was damaged at their maximal weight and their inelastic skin then deflates with the loss of fat leaving excess skin folds.

Am I A Candidate for Body Contouring?
Individuals are good candidates for surgery if:
They are healthy non-smokers and do not have conditions or take medicines that may impair healing.
They need to be close to their ideal and maintainable weight and this weight needs to be stable for six months prior to surgery. Body contouring surgery is not a substitute for weight loss which is advisably achieved through exercise and a healthy diet.
Individuals need to have realistic expectations and understand that body contouring surgery does result in scarring, that although permanent are an acceptable trade-off for the improvement in body shape.
They will also be aware that body shape can change with aging and weight changes, and as such their rejuvenated post-surgical appearance can change with time.
